For most domestic applications, standard Pacific Coast or Eastern maple is perfectly adequate. However, for some heavier
duty uses, many customers opt for Hard Rock Maple. For example, it would be the preferred choice for a bakery or butcher
shop. Hard Rock Maple is denser than the standard maple and has a somewhat "whiter" and brighter color; however,
the material becomes darker when finished. Cost of Hard Rock Maple is about 25 per cent higher than standard maple.
Hard Rock Maple Perfect Plank is made by finger-jointing 8" to 18" pieces of clear wood into strips of the desired
length. The strips (1.4 to 1.8" wide) are then glued face-to-face to form an edge-grain Butcher Block product.
Perfect Plank is laminated with water resistant urea resin glue. One face is of furniture quality, sanded with 120 grit
paper. Reverse side may contain defects and is sanded with 80 grit paper.
