All Perfect Plank is shipped unfinished. In this form, it is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity.
It is essential that you store unfinished plank vertically, allowing both sides equal access to prevailing atmospheric conditions.
You MUST finish BOTH SIDES of each plank immediately after receipt. If you do not finish both sides, the untreated
face can absorb moisture, causing the plank to cup. Some popular choices for finishing plank:
- Mineral Oil. This preserves the authentic 'feel'
of the wood, but leaves the plank at risk for absorbing stains from water, juices, fruits, etc
- Polyurethane or spar varnish. Multiple coats will provide
maximum protection from moisture and stains.
