Poplar is one of America's most common species, growing primarily in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. This medium-density
wood has a distinct appearance with its predominantly creamy white sapwood streaked with heartwood that varies in color from
yellowish-brown to olive green. It is a popular species in the furniture industry and can be used for table tops and
in other interior applications.
Perfect
Plank Poplar is manufactured in 1 3/8 and 1 7/8 thicknesses. It is not currently available in lengths over 8 feet.
As with other species, it is manufactured by finger-jointing 8" to 18" pieces into strips of the desired length.
Then the strips (about 1.1" in thickness) are glued face-to-face to create the finished plank. One face is of furniture quality, sanded with 120 grit paper. Reverse
side may contain defects and is sanded with 80 grit paper.
